DISTRIBUTED COMPUTER SYSTEMS SPECIALIST 71000891

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently advertising to fill a Distributed Computer Systems Specialist position within the Information Technology Services division.
To be considered as a potential applicant, you must meet the minimum requirements listed below.
Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education.

MINIMUM
Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming, or in planning or designing distributed computer systems; or
  2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or
  3. Two years of experience as described above and either (a) completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (b) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
  4. Any combination of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming, or in planning or designing distributed computer systems and college education at a rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year of experience can substitute on a year for year basis for the required bachelor s degree.

DUTIES &
Responsibilities:

The specific duties for this position include:

  • Installing, implementing, maintaining and supporting distributed computer systems and departmental desktops/laptops, including:
    hardware, software, and communications components and related peripherals; and
  • Installation of workstations and printers;
  • Editing and modifying configuration files for the distributed computer operation system software, applications software and for communications with other computers or peripherals equipment;
  • Providing help desk assistance to business area customers, maintain records regarding help desk responses, and updating and closing completed service desk tickets;
  • Conducting on-site system reviews to evaluate customer compliance to system standards and procedures; and
  • Assisting higher level personnel in the recommendation of appropriate hardware operating system software and application software.

  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment;
  • Knowledge of Windows 10;
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques;
  • Knowledge of desktop ticketing solutions;
  • Knowledge of information security best practices;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to remotely troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents;
  • Ability to process information logically and solve problems;
  • Ability to apply technology solutions to business processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing.

Starting salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE s pay policy.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
