Job Summary
Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for performing various clinical, clerical, and financial job duties assigned within the scope of laboratory services. Clinical duties include specimen verification and processing, phlebotomy and, sample tracking including crediting and cancellation of laboratory testing, and processing send out tests. Clerical duties include phone reception, printing and distribution of reports, operation of office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines and printers, in additional to basic computer skills in the laboratory and hospital information systems. Financial duties include insurance verification, reviewing patient accounts for proper diagnosis coding, and providing necessary forms (ex. ABN) and documentation to ensure payment of services.
