Summary:
The Front Desk Associate completes the check-in and check-out process of all patient visits by verifying patient demographic information; making copies of identification and insurance card information and having the patient complete the correct documents by providing excellent customer-service skills to provide that excellent patient experience.
Essential Functions:
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner at all times.
Checks-in patients by verifying their demographic information (address, telephone numbers, insurance information, etc.
); updates changes in Epic.
Updates patient's Signature on File once a year; updates insurance information changes.
Ensures new patients execute the Signature form appropriately.
Scans new patient Registration and Signature on File forms; and accurately indexes into the patient's EMR chart.
Scans and accurately indexes all insurance EOBs.
Cleans scanner once a month.
Makes copies/scan of the patient's insurance cards (front & back) and photo ID (front); scans/indexes record into the patient's EMR chart.
Maintains a neat and clean reception area and patient restrooms at all times (ensuring reading materials are not older than 3 months, rearrange furniture to its proper place, dispose of trash, etc.
).
During Check-out verifies the accuracy of procedures performed, patient status, etc.
; collects full payment due or Co-pays, and/or past due balances; schedules follow-up visit; schedules tests, and send records for referrals, if necessary, within 48 hours.
Ensures accurate diagnosis documentation is included on prescriptions for referral to outside labs.
Notifies the Site Manager when a No Show exceeds 15 minutes.
Monitors physician schedules to fill open slots.
Closes trash gates morning after pickups.
Exhibits team behavior assisting where needed.
Receives returned mail and tracks down current address and places in slot for mailing.
Prints ABNs and PIP paperwork.
Reviews daily obituaries and updates patient status.
Participates in educational activities.
Performs assigned duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND
Experience:
High School Graduate or Equivalent Minimum one year Medical Office experience preferred Minimum two years Customer Service experience Ability to work at a rapid pace, being involved in several duties at one time Previous EHR experience, Epic a plus Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Manager, etc.
) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; excellent written skills and spelling/grammar Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, staff and the public Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality including HiPAA compliance and EPIC policy as instituted by LMHS Ability to work a flexible schedule Ability to work in the absence of direct supervision Participates in opportunities of continuing education COMPETENCIES:
