Position
Summary:
The Family Support Coordinator is an important leader in the care for grieving families in the Valerie's House program.
This position takes the lead on all aspects of Valerie's House peer group nights and provides support and assessment during family enrollments.
The Family Support Coordinator connects families with community resources and fosters family engagement.
Areas of Responsibility and Essential Duties:
Group Night Leadership and Family Support Intuitive and creative thinker when it comes to providing and improving the experience of Valerie's House families on group night.
Oversees the processes of group nights, including preparation of activity, group room set up and group night paperwork.
Facilitates grief support groups and helps children in their grief journey.
Works with Director of Family Enrollments to understand each new family, their placement, their needs, and make sure they are welcomed on their first night of group and are followed up with after.
Communicates regularly with Director of Enrollments on issues resulting from group night, recommendations for group night changes and improvements.
Works closely with Volunteer Coordinator on the coordination of Group Night buddies, facilitators, dinner sponsors, and pet therapy volunteers.
Works with team on sponsors and volunteers to coordinate group night dinners.
Oversees Group Night Assistants and Interns.
An understanding and comfortability working in the Family Database (i.
e.
Apricot System) for demographics roster, communications lists, attendance reports, special reports as directed by management.
Works with team on ordering programming supplies.
Oversees family communication using emails and texts.
Takes lead on helping families find additional resources in community, links them to those resources and makes sure they are taken care of.
Communications, Outreach, Fundraising and Events Attends tabling and partnership events and represents Valerie's House at various awareness events, seeking resources for our families, and sharing with other organizations about our mission.
Helps CEO and Fundraising Team on fundraising events, working with donors, and communication with supporters and donors.
Gives tours of Valerie's House to potential donors and supporters, sharing the mission and the need to help.
Takes the leads on Family events such as Holiday gatherings, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Summer Bash, Summer Family nights.
Helps Communications Team spread the mission with social media.
Helps Communications Coordinator create quarterly family newsletter.
Additional Duties:
Conducts Family Enrollment Tours and the associated paperwork to enroll families in the Valerie's House program.
Facilitates school-based and/or offsite groups when needed.
Stays current with grief and bereavement training and education, willingness to learn as much about the grief and bereavement field as possible.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher An understanding and passion for the impact of grief on the mental health of children, teenagers and adults is a plus.
Proficient in technology, running reports, data entry, and an ability to learn new and multiple computer programs.
Must have a valid Florida Driver's License and a personal vehicle for work related travel.
The ability to lift up to 5 lbs.

Must be able to pass a Level II background check.
This position will work at least two 1 pm to 9 pm shifts during the work week and may be assigned other nights and some weekends as needed.
